So does this mean you're going to start putting a tally on your truck with a deer head crossed out, like the pilots did in world war 2 when they killed a nazi?

I hit a deer once, in my temporary car I got whilst I'm slowly rebuilding the Samurai. The deer was fine, my car was totalled. Whole front subframe was twisted, all the panels were buckled and the car just wasn't worth fixing. So I got another one even cheaper.

Its all fun and games when you hit it with your company truck! But do that with your personal car and you will be jumping around cursing the animal like i did when i first hit a moose with mine! Good thing volvos are cheap as dirt to fix tho. :D

You seem surprisingly happy about that incident. Shouldn't you be worried/angry at least about the damages? :P

With the kind of miles that these trucks cover the odd bit of damage is inevitable.

if it was just the corner, then just part of the deer was bashed and thrown, otherwise they explode into a meat pinata

You should paint a little "kill" silhouette of a jumping deer on the side of your lorry...

Once you get your own truck, you need to put a massive cow catcher on it, like on road trains.

I join you in the Wrecked Rides Club. I rolled my car October 16th. Bought my new car yesterday, via insurance.

When you drive OTR for a living it's not a question of if this is going to happen, but when, how bad's the damage going to be and when is it going to happen again.

This is why a lot of truckers, including my brother-in-law,have cameras on their trucks.

I know but sometimes they still hold you accountable for the damage until it is proven that there was nothing you could have done to avoid it (for example people that like to sue companies to get the insurance money). Airline companies do the same thing, until they are proven that the pilot acted in the only way possible to prevent casualties (in the event of a successful crash landing).

That's good. I think all trucks should have them to combat the number of idiots in 4 wheelers trying to do insurance fraud or blame their accident on the truck driver  nowadays (I've seen plenty of the videos).

Isn't that the damn truth. People drive like idiots around where I live and cut off trucks. I make sure the semis get all the respect they deserve.

Nope, in a few states you can call a butcher to come pick it up and chop it up for you into steaks, burgers...jerky.

I got lucky and hit her head so all the yummy meat didnt get ruined by explodeing guts everywhere. So, i got some food out of it.

Don't know how it is in Nebraska, but in Kansas if you hit and kill a deer you can get a "salvage tag" from the Sheriff deputy responding to the accident and take it home.

Really? Over here you can take any dead animal and cook it unless the council get at it first.
